Day 2 - Athens (Description)

Today we'll start with a short walk early in the morning to enter the Agora, or the old Athens near Plaka, right at the foot of the Acropolis to have our first yoga class surrounded by ancient Greek ruins.

Yogic theme of the day: We will discover the secret art of architecture as the foundational principle of all yogic movement.

We will use this discovery to take our arm balances further, a joyful play of stacking and falling, in and out of balance and center, in and out of alignment, solidifying our sense of heart, strength and fearlessness.

We'll take the short walk back to the hotel that is centrally located to have breakfast and take our showers and get changed and start our visits: The Acropolis, the Museum of Archeology, Monastiraki square and the labyrinth of streets in Plaka.

We'll have a chance to pick another nice spot in the late afternoon (in the shade) for our second yoga class before relaxing a bit before dinner. We'll eat in the typical Greek way with mezze and we'll have the chance to go have a drink in the popular Psiri area, right next to our hotel.

Day 3 - Crete (Description)

We'll arrive by ferry early in the morning to the island of Crete, southern Greece. Being the largest island in the country, we won't run out of things to see and do.

We start our Cretan adventure with a short ride to our home for the next two days: Achlada. These beautiful little bungalows built next to the ghost town of Achlada with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountainous countryside and the sea is a real hidden gem. As soon as we arrive we'll have a yoga class to connect with the area we're in and then have breakfast.

Yogic theme of the day: Energize! We will harness our power in this challenging and explosive yoga meets capoeira flow class.

We will flow and float playing with flowing from the mat, to arm balances, flowing flowing flowing until our bones melt and our flesh becomes energy. An electric practice in which we will lose ourselves and become one with the air, the scenery, and the sunshine.

Marcos and his family will not only host us but also show us around, as well visit the ghost town itself (Marcos' hometown), as well a small town nearby called Fodele, where the famous El Greco was born.

Tonight we'll have our yoga class as well see the amazing sunset and have the delicious dinner Marcos' sister will have prepared for us.

Days 4 - 5 - Crete (Description)

The next two days will allow us to connect with ourselves and take in the breathtaking views.

Yoga theme of the day: Mindfulness and joy. Becoming present to the moment, on the mat and off the mat.

We'll have our daily yoga classes and we'll head out to visit the local olive oil making COOP as well as the nunnery located at the top of nearest mountain. The COOP is made up of the local families who work together to export their olive oil and derivative products (which we'll be able to bring back of course).

On both days we'll return in the early afternoon and have time to relax before our yoga class at sunset and our dinner in Achlada, prepared by Marcos' sister who'll make sure our tastebuds are having as much fun as we are. In addition, she'll lend us her kitchen and take the time to show us how to prepare a typical local dish, our first of two cooking workshops.

Day 6 - Crete (Description)

We will wake up with our daily yoga practice. Yoga theme of the day: Walking meditations, abandon yourself completely to the beauty of each moment you are in!

We will then head out towards the South coast of the island, to make our way to a small village only accessible by boat.

This one-sidewalk village is a true hidden gem, completely disconnected from the road network, with all hotel rooms guaranteed a direct view of the sea which is always a few feet away.

Kristina will receive us in her family-run hotel and we'll have all of our meals right on the seaside. The village is located near some Bysantine ruins and is a trek away from different gorges and beaches. We'll have our daily sunset yoga class in a quiet area and have dinner on the dock.

Days 7 - 8 - Crete (Description)

The next two days will feature the best combination of activities possible. We'll wake up in the morning with yoga. Yoga theme of the day: Surrender to the universe - learning to surrender, acceptance, non resistance, finding joy in truth and what is: finding our limitations in deep bends, rediscovering child pose and savasana. Then we will have a nice breakfast right on the water, then either trek our way to the top of a gorge to then walk down to the sea or just trek along coast to one of the beaches...

The afternoons will allow us to either relax or trek some more, as the area has unlimited possibilities for the most curious (and fit) ones in the group.

Kristina's sister will also let us into her kitchen to prepare a typical Greek dish which we'll be able to eat for dinner.

knossos.jpg

Day 9 - Crete (Description)

After three nights disconnected from civilization we'll have to head back towards the port to catch our ferry to head out to our next stop, but not before we visit the famous archeological site of Knossos. But first we will have our daily yoga session on the dock surrounded by the breathtaking Mediterranean view. Today our yogic theme will be deeply anchored to the breath, cycling in and out of posture in harmony with the waves of the ocean.

We'll first drop off our bags in Heraklion, the ancient port of Crete and walk around the old part of town. After visiting the Museum of Archeology which holds the unique disc of Phaestos we'll make our way (30-min ride) to the site where the Palace of Knossos was discovered. This will be our chance to learn about the incredible civilization that existed before the ancient greeks: the Minoans.

Our last yoga session in Crete will be held again right by the water, this morning we will have an energizing session cultivating rapid, flowing, sweaty transitions, accelerating the breath and the pace until our minds melt away and all that is left is our breath and fire in our belly.

Then we'll take a ferry, just for a few hours, to Santorini.

We'll visit Fira, Santorini's capital and we'll walk down the famous steps to take the donkeys back up. Fira is filled with shops and cute little pedestrian streets, so we'll be able to pick a nice spot on the volcanic beach to have our second fire yoga class and then have dinner.
